I am embarrassed to say that 8 of my toenails are pretty severely fungal. This started 8 years ago Blush.

I have tried Vicks, I have tried tea tree oil, I have tried Phytex paint from a chiropodist. All of these in turn were done religiously morning, night and after showering for months. All of them looked like they were working for a while, then the blasted fungus rallied Angry.

I don't think I can take the tablets as I have stomach problems (gastritis) which I am on medication for.

What can I do? Summers are always a bit miserable. I was reading about laser treatment - anyone had it?

Sad

Doctor ?

OpenMindedSceptic · 20/02/2013 04:06

I have it on 3 toenails and it's driving me mad. Can't take any meds or creams as I'm pg at the moment but will be seeing GP in near future.
Tried tea tree oil, vapour rub, vinegar- none of them worked.
Sorry this is not much help, hope someone can share a positive experience.

I got Curanail on prescription (they're free here), you have to put it in for a year because toenails grow so slowly, but I used it spotadically for a few months and my manky nail is fine now. Have you not been to the doctor?

Mine improved after tea-tree oil - better than a year on prescription Lamasil-but almost cured now by (desperate) use of mouthwash, a Listerine I think.

I have one... Tried all the home remedies but the only thing that has helped is a prescription if terbinafine (lamisil by another name I think...). I've been taking it for 9 months and I've only recently started seeing improvements. Don't assume you can't take it, check with GP, my package says it can't be taken with some liver problems but doesn't mention stomachs...!

Showtime, sorry if this is a stupid question, but did you actually put the mouthwash on the toenail?

BerylStreep · 21/02/2013 23:46

Have you considered your diet? Zoe Harcombr talks a lot about candida overgrowth which affects so many different parts of the body.

There was another thread on this recently, and someone recommended Cillit Bang plus lots of other more conventional things.
