Like I said about 2 weeks ago I started with a really awful cold, for 3 days could barely get out of bed, had shivers etc etc.

when I started to feel a little bit better I had the normal sore throat for a few days and blocked nose, that was about 10 days ago, throat has got better but still have blocked nose and its driving me nuts, been blowing constantly lots of yukky gunk (sometimes its clear, then could be yellow or greeny in colour)

Not sleeping well and feel really tired, I was pretty much prepared to let it run its course, till someone said oh it should not be going on that long, I would get to the doctors asap ! now I suffer slight health anxiety I am a lot better than I was, but thought this was just a cold. My doctors are really hard to get into call on the day for an appointment being on hold for ages.

Am I right in thinking this is just a cold, I did not think to go to the doctors as I know they is no cure for the cold !

Is it worth going?

I've had something similar, flu type thing after Christmas, then chest infection then better for a few days and I have had a full week of blowing out green stuff - 7th day today. Have been feeling a bit rough and tired but not enough to be in bed.

Rang the doctor on Friday and was told that it was probably not an infection - which i don't think it is - and to use stream and drink lots of hot drinks.

Think you need to hang on in there for a few more days before calling the doctor.

Thanks Mizu think I will do

I've got it too, it's a heck of a bug! Sad
Never known a cold be as nasty or last as long.

I had flu then got sinus infection which is what your sounds like. I eventually had to get antibiotics (for a concurrent ear infection) and only a full 7 days later did the (disgusting) yellowygreen goo stop!!!

lurkingfromhome · 19/02/2013 15:55

Same here! In fact I was going to post a similar thread today. Have had cold for 11 days now - the "worst" stage with all the sneezing and sore throat etc lasted a good 4 days longer than usual, and now I am just permanently exhausted - that real flu-y type fatigue that just makes you feel weary. Can't stop blowing my nose (although thankfully no green snot) and still have a vague headache. Would like nothing more than to take to my bed for a fortnight ... I do think it's just a particularly horrible cold then a bit of post-viral tiredness but man, I am so tired of it Sad

Urgh... me too! The actual cold was over quickly, couple of days... but my head! It is stuffed up with green gunk, my ears are blocked, and my nasal passages. I hates it.

HandbagCrab · 19/02/2013 16:05

Me too! Had cold for nearly two weeks now, luminous green snot and a sinus pain that ihas moved from my gums to my nose and now is in my eyebrow. I have health anxiety too. What has been helping is hot baths and I run the sink full of hot water too and add some olbas oil and breathe in the steam.

I just want to go somewhere hot and luxurious where I can be waited on hand and foot for a couple of months to fully recuperate from my various ailments - is that too much to ask? :)

SageBush · 19/02/2013 16:12

Me too! I have been ill for about a month now, with quantities of revolting greeny-yellow gunk, a headache behind my face (if you see what I mean), blocked ears, and conjunctivitis (for the second time). Went to Dr last week, re my eye, and he gave me ointment for that, but said I just had a series of colds... Thought I was starting to get better yesterday, but the conjunctivitis has returned today, in both eyes now, and the nose/ears/head thing is continuing. Lovely... It would be great to have the opportunity to rest properly, but DC and job don't allow for that to happen.

Get well soon, everyone!

HandbagCrab · 19/02/2013 16:18

Interesting sagebush I had really bad conjunctivitis last month which is something I've not had before and prior to that two bouts of norovirus. My doc says it's a series of minor bugs/ viruses too which doesn't help when you're suffering and having to carry on as normal as you only have 'a cold'.

MistyB · 19/02/2013 21:08

There was a thread about Sinus / nose clearing a couple of weeks ago. Pressing the roof of the mouth with the tongue while pressing between your eyebrows.

I did see GP last week after at least one cold/virus plus breathing problems, first time seeing doctor for a cough but told I was right to have lungs checked. Today it seems to have returned for third time, with usual exhaustion, so although sorry so many Mnetters are suffering, glad am not alone with this year's lurgy and recurrent runny nose. Hope we can all manage some extra rest.

lurkingfromhome · 20/02/2013 09:29

Today's symptoms are runny left eye, burning feeling in both eyes and general crushing fatigue. Oh and vague sinus-y headache that won't go away. Honestly, a 12-day cold Angry. What is really annoying and unfair is that I eat a ton of fruit & veg while my DH barely manages 3 a day and has had one cold in 15 years ...

harryhausen · 20/02/2013 10:42

Lurking, so glad you described that. I've had very similar and was going to post about it.

I barely had a cold. Just a tickly throat really. Then immediately I got mega congestion, that ^nothing^ is shifting. My eyes are constantly watery - it's getting hard to see through it and I'm an artist for a living! I have chronic fatigue. When I wake in the morning I feel rough, groggy and puffed up.

I'm guessing it really is just a virus/cold thing that do many of you have had too. I wish it would just goHmm

mizu · 20/02/2013 14:12

Posting again as after 12 days of constant mucus I went to the doctor and she has given me antibiotics.

She also asked me to go for a blood test as I have been feeling rough for a while (flu - in bed for 3 days over Xmas, chest infection and now this) as she said that she has seen a few people who have what she thinks is Influenza type A (or did she say B?) which lasts for 2-3 months and leaves people feeling ill not but ill enough to be in bed.

She said that I could do with a week off work (yeh, right) and lots of rest at home (again yeh, right) but that I may not be feeling 100% until Easter ish Shock

mumtoh · 21/02/2013 10:47

I am so glad I'm not alone! Had a cold after christmas that started chesty and turned into a tickly cough that I had for weeks. Doc sent me for a chest xray last week and then I got another cold which is vicious. It's a chestycough in the morning and then turns tickly cough which almost makes me retch. Attractive. Just wish I could bring up the flem in the morning but I can't, just can't do that horrible thing where you bring it into your mouth. I wish I could. Been off work since last Thursday, went in yesterday but it made me feel worse than ever so off again today. Went to the docs on Monday but he said its viral so no anti biotics. Going to Scotland for the weekend tomorrow so I am desperately hoping for a miracle recovery.
