frequent feeling of needing to wee. when i try to go, i get a feeling in the - ureathra(?) similar to when you push out a poo, but with a hot flush/shiver type sensation. when the shiver comes, a little wee is released like a push and then the feeling disappears and i am left feeling a little sore. it then happens again about 10 minutes later. it started this afternoon.

has this happened to anyone else?

ive had this for a couple of weeks now. will watch to see if anyone has any answers, i can literally go for a wee leave the bathroom and need to go again. its quite a pain

it sure sounds like cystitis .. you need to drink lots of water and 7fl oz of cranberry juice a day is supposed to help too

It can develop into a kidney infection too .

sometimes it needs anti-biotics

sweetmonkey · 28/04/2006 16:16

ive been drinking lots more water and green tea lately but it never usually has this much of an effect. will get some cranberry juice tonight and see if that helps. thanks

sounds like cystitis
go to gp and get some anti-biotics to clear it up

As someone who suffers repeated kidney infections I'm pretty sure you have a UTI (urinary tract infection). Symptoms include needing to urinate lots (but often only a little urine being passed in one sitting!) and it hurting when you wee!

It can be caused by a variety of things, I've included some information that might help, sorry to bombard you with information but if left untreated it can spread to your kidneys (like it did with me) and then it becomes very painful and rather awful!

Possible causes : Sex (always try to wee post-sex).
Using too much soap/bubble bath/feminine hygiene products
Not going to the toilet as soon as you need to
Too much alcohol

Treatment: Cranberry Juice
Vitamin C to boost your immune system and help fight the infection
1 pint of water with 1 tsp of Bicarbonate of Soda to neutralise the urine making it less painful when you do go
Up your intake of water
Lower intake of caffeine/alcohol

That's all I can remember from the top of my head, I hope you feel better soon!

Urinary infection -- go to the doctor as if left untreated it can spread to the kidneys. In the meantime lilstarry's advice is great.

It's amazing how much quickly you start to feel better once you start the antibiotics, though.
