I've started a couple of threads in chat this evening about this, but everyone is ignoring me ...

I have chronic sinusitis. Off and mostly on for about 7 years; since I had dd1. I get dizziness, auras, headaches, face pain, tiredness, fugginess, halitosis, post nasal drip, excercise intolerance.

I had a CT scan, GP phoned today to say there are changes consistant with chronic sinusitis and some cysts. He is refering me to ENT. Possibly, for surgery

I've been googling, and come across some sites talking about weight gain and depression associated with sinus cysts Whilst this sounds unlikely, they are both things that I have been struggling with

When I had dd1, I was depressed after a miscarriage and also pretty much unable to walk for 9 months with SPD. I put on lots of weight and developed a serious sugar addiction, which I really struggle with still. Everything points to having am over growth of candida. I am thinking of trying the diet, but have year tonight there is no scientific basis. It's quite hardcore and I know I won't find it easy.

Anyone have any experiences or advice?

Once you get past the withdrawal symptoms you should definitely feel better. Ideally go cold turkey and if you feel peckish, don't reach for anything carby/sweet, eg I chomp on a carrot.

My sinuses have cleared when I went gluten free with my ds, if you crave bread/cereals then I would say cut them out too, have an omelet instead or similar.

It's good to hear it worked for you. I don't crave bread or cereal. I used to and went gluten free for a while. But I don't eat much bread etc anymore. My problem is definitely sugar!

Can u ask, did you use a book? Or any kind of guidance at all?

I will struggle, with not eating fruit. What do you have for breakfast?

Yes an anti candida diet is difficult, but very very healthy.
Breakfast can be porridge or a super healthy museli

I used books re gluten/carb free, but cut down drastically on sugar anyway as noticed that once you have something sweet, your insuline vicious cycle kicks in and soon you are craving more - so I have a carrot instead, or raw fennel.
I think fruit is OK as it's a whole food rather than sugar on its own.
I use a tiny end-of-spoon amount of honey in my tea/coffee. I like gf scones as they are least sweet of gf treats.

Post-nasal drip is OK in my book as it shows that sinuses are clearing. I also saw a naturopath for my blocked ears and discovered I had tonsil stones blocking eustachian tubes causing halitosis. I had some herbal tinctures to shift those and eventually they went, combined with yoga, homeopathy (nat mur) and zinc supplements. It took years tho and years of sudafed hadn't made any difference.

Is it? That's good. I don't think my sinyses are really awful. It's just that its pretty much constant, low to middle level...and I find it quite debilitating. I'm so exhausted all the time. That, and the halitosis! Which is so embarrassing obviously.

Think I might go and see a herbalist. Right, I'm going to give it a go!
