Post pregnancy joint pain...after 4 months?

I gave birth in sep and have started to get really achy joints over the last few weeks. I remember having the same issue following the birth of my first baby but that followed immediately after birth. This seems to have just appeared. Does anyone have any experience of this or know anything about it?

I think it's something to do with the Relaxin in your body (which eases the ligaments for birth). I had dreadful problems with my feet especially for about six months after birth, but it did go eventually.

There's a condition called postpartum thyroiditis, which is a (usually) temporary thyroid gland imbalance. It can have symptoms like you describe. You could ask GP fora blood test to check thyroid function.

Thanks for your responses. Might make a doctor's appointment just to check but also nice to know it's fairly normal and will hopefully pass soon

Yep

Normal, and bloody annoying. Especially when you think you're done with the pain bit.

So true! Have done this childbirth thing twice now and seems to me the female body could do with some redesigning! Wink
