I came down with the flu early December which put me in bed for a week with DH looking after me - not putting it on as it was definately full blown flu.

Took till after NY to get back on my feet but I still have no taste buds or sense of smell.

Now this weekend a good 8 weeks after flu Ive got a cold

How come - is my defence system

I expect as it was the real bad flu, you had a raised temperature and your appetite disappeared, so didn't eat much or anything? And 8 weeks later you still have no taste or smell. That is unusual in my experience. I suspect you got back into things much too soon and exhausted your immune system - so to speak. I think you should have a blood test asap. And take it easy until your sense of taste and smell returns. If you can eat now as usual, but just the taste and smell has gone, that is also unusual.
Some people swear by taking lots of Vitamin C to combat colds.
Good Luck.

Actually, the fact that you're having cold symptoms is a sign of a healthy immune system. The bunged up nose etc is not the virus, it's your body fighting it. Crap timing for you, though. Hope you feel better soon.
