So i was told last Wed i had an ear infection (started with cough/cold, which i still have) I was put on antibiotics, which i finished on Sunday. Although there is no pain in that ear, there is now a buzzing noise, which is constant. I have hearing loss in the same ear also. I went to see the dr yesterday about the tinnitus and she checked my ear again, she said the drum looked very red and swollen & probably still had fluid behind it.

She could only offer advice of steam inhalation, which i've tried. I'm hoping the tinnitus will stop once the infection/fluid build up has gone? Someone said its a waiting game until the eardrum bursts, then the fluid can escape and then the tinnitus will stop? Its driving me mad. I was feeling incredibly down in the first place and this cold has just floored me. I'm tempted to ram a cotton bud in my ear, i'm so desperate.

have you tried Drumming ? it works for my DH who suffers due to hypothyroidism .

i believe the RNID has a whole section devoted to tinnitus sufferers - like white noise to play to deaden the sound. Good luck, I know it's a horrendous condition.
