I'm sure it's flu but I feel awful :(

DS has been ill with ear infections, cold and a cough. Now he's passed something on to me.
I ache everywhere, cough until I vomit, my head hurts as does every joint.
I'm taking lemsip but I feel helplessly ill.
I had similar about 15 months ago and was like this for 8 weeks (turned into pneumonia) and was off work for 4 weeks.

I don't know what to do with myself

You need more than lemsip. I would recommend seeing your GP but if you can get to a pharmacy ASAP (or send DH). The pharmacist often has meds that really work.

I find Night Nurse very effective overnight. I generally use paracetamol and ibuprofen during the day but sometimes co-codamol if I'm really in pain.

GP might be best though...

If you do think you've got flu, please don't go in to the surgery. Phone them first and tell them, most surgeries don't encourage people with flu to go in, because there may be babies or elderly people there with lower immune systems. They can advise you over the phone and write a script for someone to pick up for you. Don't just suffer at home alone, do phone them in the morning so whatever it is can be caught before it turns into pneumonia again. Rest, plenty of fluids, pain killers. I hope you feel better in a day or so.
