Irregular periods after birth?

I had severe post partum bleding, it lasted 11 weeks, and then when ds was 13 weeks i had what I assumed was my first period.

I have now just realised that was over 2 months ago. And haven't had anything since..

Feel so silly for not realising earlier, but it has been the last thing on my mind, especially as i was 'tricycling' with the pill for years before i got pregnant, i'm used to having a period only every 2 /2 months or so.

I am not breastfeeding, is this normal?

I had very irregular periods for about 6 months. But didn't start periods again for 8 months, and did breastfeed, so don't know if it's relevant. Do you have a nice gp you can ask?

I asked my hv and was told they can be fairly irregular initially, as I had one period then nothing.
I was that absentminded...and pregnant again though!

eeek..i'm a bit worried now as with ds initial preg. tests were negative..only after I got raging morning sickness and had a blood test did i find out
must go see my g.p next week..

becky breastfeding does affect it..some people have none until theystop...

Can anyone tell me if this is fairly normal too/ (Sorry to junp in) I'm still bf DD at 15 months, just 2 feeds a day. Periods started back in October and I've had 4 since then. They have been a bit irregular. my last one was at the beginning of February and I've had nothing since then. (Definitely NOT pg) Has this happened to others? I thought once they started then that was it. Have always been a bit irregular though.

Hi Clure, sorry I can't help but was wondering if your periods just sort of came back or did it happen when you reduced feeds? I'm really hoping for mine back and dropped night feeds around a month ago and am now down to 3 feeds per day (short ones) and so far nothing. Don't know whether to wean totally or if they'll just come back regardless?

hi, I've always had irreg periods and had been told that they would 'settle down' after ds1, but they didn't - even after I'd completely stopped breastfeeding him.

Bobblehead - I'm BF DD who is 13 months old - no periods yet (suits me). I read that they tend to come back if you do a drastic change rather than a gradual one. There's info on this at www.kellymom.com

Hi bobblehead - I'd started back work part time in September and so had reduced bf by then and periods began in October. I think I gradually reduced bf during the school summer hols (I teach) My friend had totally stopped bf before her periods came back. I guess we're all different!

Sorry to jump in but also experiencing very irregular pp periods. Started 6 months post with very light bleeding just spotting really but now 7.5 months I've got my first what I would describe as proper one and it's still going on day 16. This happened after ds1 too but I got pregnant again before I had the chance to see if it would settle down. Anyone else known anything like this?
