If you've ever had your cervix fiddled with (polyp removal, cryotherapy, the like) - how fecking long does the thing bleed for?

Amongst all my other gynaecological woes :( I had a polyp removed from my cervix last Thursday.

(The surgeon showed it to me - it was fecking huge!!! A flat flap of, um, well, whatever it was, the size of my thumb pad! When they told me I had a polyp and it needed to come off, I expected a thing like a big zit! I'm soooo attractive, me...]

It bled red blood for about a day, and then brownish-red gunk for another day or so, and since then there's been brown gunk, which has turned to light brown gunk, with stringy stuff. It's lessening a bit, day by day. But I somehow had this idea it would bleed for a couple of days and then heal.

Yesterday evening I saw a lot of dark brown gunk on the pad before going to bed, today it's much less and a lighter brown.

How long should this go on for?

This is going to go on until my period comes, in another 9 days, right... arse.

Oh come onnnnnnn!

In the last 7 days I've had a heart-flutteringly good-looking young surgeon root around in my foof. My mid-50s wonderful warm and stylish I want to be her when I grow up other surgeon rooted around in my foof.

There will be intense and surgical foof-rummaging some time this year.

I do not want anyone else to root around in my foof again this week!
Other than DH, which I why I want to know how long the fecker is going to keep shedding brown gunk.

Someone please just give me an answer that solves everything.

No advice but I've had a lot of professional foof rummaging over the last year and I just wanted to give your hand a little squeeze. Hope you're ok.

I have had my foof rummaged, but differently to yours oh god, can this sound any worse?! but thought I'd chuck you my time scale in as no one else is willing to admit to it!

I had severe dyskaryosis cin 3, and had a colposcomy followed by treatment - I bled for gulp about 5 weeks in all. Started out clotty like a period, then brown gunk, which apparently was the damaged cells that had been burnt when they sealed the surface area coming away. Did they do this for you?

Sorry for complete lack of technical terms, my ds isn't sleeping and Im knackered! Also, just wanted to say, thinking of you - I know from your other thread you haven't half been through the mill. Hand here if you need it :)

In happy to say the gunk is now light brown and a little less than when I started the thread.

I think "gunk" is an excellent word to describe it, and seems on the mend now.
I had a LLETZ but with a scalpel years ago, and then we stayed in hospital for 8 days, to remove the rim of my Cervix and more farther up due to CIN3 cells.

The nurse came to me and said time to change your bandage, and I asked "What bandage?", and she said the one inside you. I didn't feel a thing. So she pulled it out and I laughed as it was never-ending like a magician pulling things out of a hat and went on and on. I had never felt anything inside me at all and was such a shock. Then she proceded to pack me full again with a clean bandage. I just kept laughing to myself.
So long ago, I can't remember how long I bled for,
Years later, I had a Hysteroscopy /scrape, and do remember I bled for 6 weeks after that and was annoyed as I was post menopausal and been rid of all that.
Being female you can't win, it seems < grin and resigned face>

Oh, I know, internal packing of any kind is just insanely long!! I broke my nose in my 20s, and had to have it surgically fixed (did a really good job breaking it, apparently), and the day after the op had to go back to the surgeon to have the packing out. All I'd seen was a bit of gauze in my nostrils.

Well, fuck me, he started pulling, and kept pulling and pulling and when he was done it was a piece of gauze about the length of my arm!!

Well, the gunk seems to be tapering off, but very slowly . I just know it, I'm on CD 18 and it will keep going until my period starts next week. Arse. Arse. Arse!!!

I had puss coming out of my neck after an operation on my Thyroid gland < decades ago> and they had to slit it open both sides with no local. It did not hurt, surprisingly, but when they inserted the bandage with plastic tweezers that had ridges on the outsides scraping my raw open wound, for 20 minutes, I was in agony. This carried on for a couple of weeks and I had gone back to work as sick pay had finished. What I put up with in my 20s.< and survived>

Hope you get some respite before AF comes < one advantage of being older and got rid of that "curse".

For my cryo, about 20 years ago, it was 4 - 5 weeks... I was so hacked off, annoying but it does stop, honest!

Well, I'm happy to report that gunk seems to have pretty much stopped :)

Well, with they hysterectomy coming up sometime this year, this is at most my 12th-last period. If that makes sense. 12 more, at the most, depending on when they schedule me.

It feels a bit odd to see that written down.
