tell your child's school if your dd / ds had head lice over the school holidays? Dd had lice over Easter & i felt it was the right thing to do to let the school know. As a result every child in the school has come home with a letter saying that someone has had head lice & asking parents to check their kids & take preventative measures. The school obviously has a standard letter to send out, but this is the first time I have ever seen it.

Maybe I'm just super suspicious, but surely someone else's child has had lice and passed them on to my dd and did not see fit to let the school know. So would you tell people if your child had lice?

I think you did the right thing. People need to be more vigilant about lice so if there is an outbreak they can check. Obviously they need to check regularly but a warning is a good thing. I would tell DD1's preschool if she had headlice.

Yes, I always tell the school and any friends who's kids have played with mine.

THe school can't be helpful
and warn people unless they get the information from parents

Yep, or they will go unnoticed and pass them back to my dd in a few days time. Its good the school is responding, hopefully the parents will go home and check the kids hair, and wetcomb in the bath.

I've never had to tell ds's school, because it's always been in the midst of an outbreak, but I do tell people if their children have been playing with my dd (aged 2) so they can keep a look out. I figure I would like to know!
