Ovarian cysts and pain

I have lower right abdominal pain which I have had for 6 weeks now my gp thinks its an ovarian cysts i am awaiting a scan) the pain is worse at night. It is a dull achey pain that is constantly there. When I am due on my period the pain gets slightly worse probably because im tired but when I'm on my period the pain doesn't seem to be as bad which I would of thought the pain would be worse when I'm on.

Anyone know if its normal for the pain to not be as bad during my period?

Hi, icantthink. The short answer is, 'I don't know' but I have been struggling wth what I presume is ovarian pain recently too. My periods have gone bonkers and I am now into my third week of the latest one, which began only a week after the previous fortnighter ended. My face:

Anyway, I think week 1 of this one was probably 'mid-cyle spotting' and week 2 might have been more of the same. End of week 1/beginning of week 2, I had awful pain just in front of my hips, worse on my left side, and I could feel a small lump each side (again, worse on the left) which were tender to touch. Going by my theory that this week is the actual period, the pain was worse around what was, presumably ovulation time. I've had uterine cramps the entire time, what felt like cervical cramps at one point, but nothing that feels ovary-like for a week or more.

Anyway, as helpful as that probably wasn't, I'd have thought ovarian pain would be worse just before, during and after ovulation time, since that's when your ovaries would be most active.

Sorry to hear about the 6 weeks of pain, by the way. I'm going bonkers after two weeks, you poor thing!
