Mirena coil. Did it cause this pain?

This morning I went for a poo and ahem strained a lot! I then had the most awful pain in my lower abdomen. I was doubled over with it. I crawled upstairs and then felt very faint and had pins and needles everywhere. went hot and cold and felt very sick. It wasn't bug type sick though. I think it was the pain.

This pain has happened a few times over the years and only lasts 5 mins and then I'm fine. I have felt fine for rest of the day.

I feel it was related to the coil and wondered whether the coil may have come dislodged or moved during the straining.

Any ideas anyone? please note I am a terrible worrier so please go easy!! thanks

i had mine taken out because of very bad pains just before opening bowels. gp didn't think it was related but i'm sure it was. still get some pains, might be due to c section scarring but nothing like the daily torture when i had the coil. i was bent double trying to get upstairs, almost as bad as labour! glad it's been taken out. had it for 12 months, regular pains, a million times better now!

It could have been the coil. I had mine removed after a few weeks because of excruciating pain in my lower belly, which did get worse if I needed to strain even slightly. I had a horrible infection that took heavy duty anti biotics to shift. It was not pleasant.

Get thee to the doctors.

Thanks Owling that's very interesting! Im sure it's related too. So painful. Im going to make an appointment to have it taken out very soon! Did it hurt when and after you had it taken out?

MrsReivers that is exactly where my pain is. Will phone tomorrow. I have no libido either and have put on weight but that may be cake related!!

not sure if you want the answer to that!! couldn't find strings x 2, scan to confirm still in, 3rd attempt to remove post scan at local hospital, then last resort general to get it out! i'm sure you'll have better luck though Smile

I had a few days of this type of pain and it got much better after I had the Mirena taken out.

MrsReiver · 08/01/2013 19:35

To counter Owlings experience getting mine removed wasn't too bad. It wasn't fun, but it was no more painful than getting it fitted, and the relief of knowing it was just bloody well out was worth it.

Charmbrainsandbeauty · 08/01/2013 19:53

It didn't hurt having mine taken out, I felt a bit knocked around for a week or so afterwards.

I felt a bit knocked around for a week or so afterwards.

Oh yes, DH wasn't getting near me for a fortnight after. Not that he wanted to though [insert vomit smiley here]

I have a mirena and have never had any pain from it.

MumVsKids · 08/01/2013 20:57

My Mirena caused an entirely different kind of pain.

He's now an 8mth sized lump sat on my bed eating breadsticks Shock

Ha ha mumvskids!! Oops! seems to be not uncommon to have pain. It is nearly 5 years old and dp has been 'done' so no probs!
