Can anyone help me re: DP's constant feverish colds?

DP has bouts of feverish cold throughout the year. He's on his 2nd or 3rd this winter. They never involve mucus so no nose blowing at all (strange as this is opposite to me). He becomes freezing cold/boiling hot with aching limbs and incapacitated.
DP has a demanding job so cannot afford to be taking time off. Whilst most people in his position either seem not to get ill or to take some pills and go in, DP when he gets these colds is unable to move.
I'd appreciate any advice about how he could prevent these illnesses and get better from them. I've been reading about viruses. Some people say don't take conventional medicines because they suppress the body's ability to let the virus out. DP is a bit confusing though as he never has any mucus which I assume is the virus coming out of the body?

Has he seen a GP? Colds without mucous/sore throat/stuffy head aren't really colds....could be other viruses, but if he's getting them every few weeks I'd check it out Smile
