7 weeks old and not pooing - help!

He hasn't pooed since Sunday, and seems to have bad tummy ache. :(

What can I do to help it??? He's breastfed....

Breastfed babies dont tend to get constipated and it is commom for them to not have a poo for up to a week (sometimes longer) when they get to this age. Have you tried bicycling his legs or massaging his tummy?

My dd was like this. I don't think there's much you can do but feed and feed and feed.

My sister's boy was too and the doctor gave him something like parafin Shock. That doesn't sound right, but he was certainly on something to help him.

I know how awful it is. You're just waiting for them to go. How about massaging his tum. It has to be done a certain way, in order to go with the flow of digestion, and I can't remember which way.

I'll try to find out. Or perhaps someone else knows.

I'll go with the massaging - I know the chiropractor managed to set him off by doing that!!

He does seem really miserable, and scrunching up like stomach ache. Its like he's got wind, but lower down. :(

I gather that carrying them in slings is better for their muscular skeletal thingamagig and can help keep it all moving. I mean carrying him even when you're cooking or cleaning. Luckily, it's nice too. Smile

Lol - he's been in a sling for the best part of two days because its all thats settling him!!! Currently laying on my legs letting me rub his tummy though

ds2 was like this - mainly breast fed - although 1 formula bottle a day at this age - and completely constipated - wouldn't go for days. We did lots of tummy massages but it didn't seem to make much difference. I have to say the biggest change came when he started weaning and even though I was still breastfeeding that did the trick - but I realise that's quite a way off yet (although we started at 14 weeks. ahem...Blush).
