Chicken pox spots- the aftermath

DD had chicken pox last week, she i no longer infectious and most of the spots are clearing up nicely .

I am concerned about the spots in her nappy area, where she got quite a few. Whereas the other spots on her body are drying, these spots seem to have 'craters' and don't look better (though they are not blistery, so therefore not new ones). Is this normal and is it because of where they are? We have tried nappy free time to air them but this is not always convenient. Will they go eventually?

My DD2 had chickenpox quite badly and a couple of them she knocked the top off more than once. Unfortunately these few have ended up with craters and some scarring. The worst one is centre back of her neck - a real crater and definitely scarred. Fortunately will be under her hairline when her hair grows (still wispy short babyhair even though now 2 and a half!).
I wonder if she has scratched the top off of the ones in her nappy and has left scarring? They should pale at least so not be so noticeable. Must be uncomfortable in the nappy area poor thing. I may be wrong but I wouldn’t be surprised if the crater ones will take either a long time to heal or maybe even permanent scarring (I have a few from childhood). Sorry - not the answer you were probably wanting.

MY ds had CP about 5/6 weeks ago and he still has remnants of spots.He has a crater scar on his forehead,but the rest look like pinky purple flat smudgy spots,mainly on his torso.

ggirl, my youngest whose 11mth had chickenpox 5-6wks ago also and is the same. Still lots of purplish spots on back and tummy and around mouth - they are worse if he gets cold. Think it depends on how bad they had chickenpox

Dd had a crater spot on her eyebrow and a year on it has definitely faded considerably from the right mess it looked just after she recovered.
There is a skin oil, rich in vitamin E, you can get from pharmacists, to encourage healing and reduce scarring, and for the life of me I cannot remember what it is called. I think it is safe for little ones.
Those spots will go eventually pootlepod, but it is hard to see them take so much longer :( You do need to watch for increased reddening/inflammation in case one of them gets infected though...which can easily be cleared up with some prescribed anti-b cream.
