pain in breast?

i dont know if this is hormonal or not. i get it several times during the month (mid-cycle and just before my period). i get a pinching, kind of shooting (but not constant) pain on the side of my right breast.

i've left a message for my GP to phone me in the morning. but in the meantime, has anyone else experienced this?

yes, loads - even got referred to a specialist for it! The most important thing I learnt is that it's very very rare for this to be a sign of anything serious, like cancer. The other thing I learnt is that it's much more common than you think.

The cure, for me, was v easy - a better fitting bra! But lots of people also said that Evening Primrose Oil helps -and if it's cyclical, like yours sounds, then that might help!

Not quite pain like this, but just to reiterate, my GP said that if it hurts it is most unlikely to be cancerous. Just want to try and put your mind at rest.

yes, im waiting for mammogram at minute and gp said as long as my lump moves and if painful, its highly unlikely its something like cancer..hope you feel better though!

Yes, I too got referred for this. Mine is always on one side. I had a mammogram & ultrasound, but there was nothing there. I just needed my mind put at rest. The consultant also said that pain is nearly always NOT a sign of cancer, if you see what I mean.

I have had pain on my left side like yours for years, again no lump or any thing..... have not found anything to help but (thanks twocats) will try to get a re-fit for bra's and get some evening primrose oil! Oh gp also said that pain is highly unlikely to indicate anything like cancer.

got fitted for new bras
but
realised ti was coz dd used it as a landing pad when she jumps on me.

i had to chuckle, sixtwosix! but i hope she's more gentle now! im hoping this is just hormonal...

Yes, I get this too. On my right side and on and off during the month. I went to the gp who did a full exam and found nothing. She says it's very common and very unlikely to be anything more serious. Hope that helps. Good luck and let us know how you get on.
