sun protection

I'm debating wether I should buy my daughter a sun suit for our trip to the beaches of Soutern Italy or wether a white T-shirt would do the same job ? Apart from the cost point of view, I think the T-shirt option would be more comfy for her. But is it as efficient a protection, added to coating her from head to toe in sun cream ?

A tightly woven t shirt offers a protection of spf 2, so you would still need to put sun cream under the t shirt. Bearing in mind that if the t shirt gets wet then the spf is reduced.

ASDA are selling sun suits with spf for about a 7 quid I think.

I have 2 very fair DD's and have not used a sun suit - but do use t shirst. I do plaster them in all day Piz Buin 30spf in the morning and they have never burnt

Sainsburys have sunsuits for £8 - I find them easier than reapplying sun cream all over every hour or so, find them value for money really.

You can get UV protected cotton t-shirts. We have a couple and also sunsuits which are more comfortable than you think.

10 hour piz buin only needs applying once a day, but if in the med would say use a tshirt for in the pool as well.

LIZS - that's interesting, where can you get those t-shirts? I'm thinking she could wear them anywhere, which would be more difficult with the sunsuits. Easier with the swim nappy too.

I use all day piz bruin and a t-shirt.

We got ours in Switzerland, larger supermarkets there sell them so maybe worth trying Asda, Sainsbury's, Boots and Tesco, but I found a site \link{http://www.sun-togs.co.uk/catalog/52\here} which does them , if a bit pricey.
