Circular patches on tongue

Jahan · 17/04/2006 22:10

Ds has 3 circular patches on his tongue and he seems to be finding it painful to eat.
He is also teething at the moment so I'm not sure what is causing his pain.
The patches don't look like blisters and don't seem red or sore.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

Ulcers I suspect.... usually a sign that he is run down.. not much you can do but avoid food that make it worse like tomatoes !
DS had this a lot - he doesn't anymore.

Thank you Pupuce.
Ds is only a year old! Isn't that a bit young?
How old was your ds when he started getting them?

could be geographical toungue...\link{http://www.healthytonguesecrets.com/hts/images/Photos/Geographic%20Tongue%202.jpg\picture here} if it is this, it is completely harmless.
However if he is finding them painful could be oral thrush or something similar, ask your GP or pharmasist to have a wee look and perhaps they could put your mind at rest.

I started a thread afew days back about this. After a year of being treated for thrush, I have realized its geographical tongue, which is normal, although it can cause irritation and soreness or burning and does predispose to thrush
