This shite has been doing the facebook rounds (I know I know!) I realise that it's a pile of pish but don't have the science to back it up. Please enlighten me.

Find an infectious person...put an onion by them...test the theoryGrin

I have ALWAYS go a cold so I may sleep on a bed of sliced onions and report back Grin

For the record though I'm voting MYTH!

Bacteria are different to viruses, ignoring the obvious bullshit about the magic powers of onions, anyone who doesn't understand this basic information is not to be trusted to comment on health...

Huh, my mum would put half an onion in my room when I was sick as a child, but it wasn't to soak up bacteria (she knows better than that, thankfully), it was to help with the stuffed up nose. I suspect that does actually work, seeing as onions make you cry and thus keep all the gunk moving...

lougle · 31/12/2012 20:14

I don't know, tbh. A lady I respect greatly told me that she put an onion in the room, and she and her husband haven't had a single cold all year.

For the cost of an onion...try it and let us know Grin
