Happy Easter! My DS started nursery school three weeks ago. He is 6mo old. He was there 3 days when he got his first cold, which is still around, and on Friday he started with vomiting and diarrhoea. He hasn't been able to keep down any of his feeds since Friday evening feed. Took him to Doctor today who says to stop any dairy products and to just give water. However my DS won't take any water or juice? Any suggestions anyone? When I told the doctor this he suggested I force him - how?

Hi Mairimac,
DD had similar last week - D&V for a few days, not keeping anything down.
The main thing is to try and avoid dehydration from the D&V and a reduced intake.
Is DS BFing at all?
If so, I would BF very regularly ( every 2 hours or so or even more often if you can).
If not try water or half strength formula if he won't take water.
There's no point in "forcing" him as it's almost impossible and may put him off taking anything at all..
You could try jelly spoon fed, or water by bottle, spoon or dropper.
10-20mls every 20 mins if possible.
Keep an eye on his nappies - he should still be producing wet ones and if he doesn't for a few hours then he's getting quite dehydrated and needs to see your GP again.
Don't worry about hassling your GP - that's what he's there for - any GP worth their salt will take your concerns seriously.
Good luck.
