Can anyone suggest what the problem might be here? We have (in order of appearance):

sore throat, stabbing kind of ear-ache, ulcerated tongue

= not a happy bunny, but not sure which symptom to tackle first or even if these things are related. I'd be very grateful for suggestions or even to know if anyone else has had this combination.

(on the plus side, all of the above makes it more difficult to talk in RL so I have to spend extra time on MN)

are your tonsils ulcerated? Could be tonsilitus if it is. Ears often hurt with a sore throat so I'd tackle the sore throat first.

Sounds nasty. I would take one of those sore throat sweets that numb and plenty of paracetamol.
I think you need to see a Dr, you may need antibiotics. The tongue thing may just be due to your immune system being a bit low.

get some soluble aspirin and gargle with it - works wonders on a sore throat.

def gargle with soluble aspirin. Also drink fizzy drinks, I've always found they're the best thing for sore throats, was even reccommended to me when i had tonsils out.

Thanks very much everyone--I will try out these suggestions (except for the doc 'cos it takes forever to get an appointment and I'm going on my hols on Friday!)

Still looking on the bright side, you do eat less when it hurts to swallow Smile.

agree with kid that ear-ache is probably connected to sore throat. make sure you drink loads. a bit of honey and/or lemon juice in hot water should help your throat a little - or I find that honey stirred into greek yoghurt is also good with a sore throat - tastes yummy too!

That sounds good, a bit better than the baby mush I've been pinching from DS1.
