Early and very heavy period. Bit worried.

My periods are mega regular 28days spot on. Never heavy or painful. On Friday I came on 8 days early and today it's very painful and really bright red with the odd clot. I'm 45 so it could be the start of the menopause but I'm a bit worried as this is do unusual for me.
I keep wondering if its not my period but something wrong.
Any reassurance that I'm being silly?

Is there a possibility you could have concieved? What you are describing sounds like an early miscarriage.

I had this once then back to 28 days, 7 - 7.15 pm (yes I was THAT regular).

Just take some painkillers and if it carries on longer than your period normally does then phone NHS direct.

Thanks sashh I'm still led down so flow is slower and pain less so ill see how it is today. If it was on time I'd just presume it was a horrible period.
