Suspected throat and ear infection with no chance of an appointment Monday

Every time I swallow it feels like I am passing a small animal through.

My ear is throbbing and hurting. I am prone to ear infections.

Is there anything I can do Now? As it isn't an emergency will my out of hours service at the hospital help?

My doctors surgery is impossible to get an appointment at the best of times so I can't see me getting one on Monday before they close for two days.

Have you got a minor illness/injury unit nearby as our local one definitely sees people with ear and throat infections.

Any out of hours clinics or walk in services near you? Try calling NHS direct and seeing if they can point you in the direction of something

Out of curiosity - did you see a doctor and did s/he do anything? I've had that bug for 10 days so far - when I saw the doctor he prescribed something for the conjunctivitis which had just developed but nothing for my throat/ears, I assume because it's viral.
