I've changed my name because i'm horrified. My 7yr old dd has nits -she's just spent the last 3/4 hour in the bath being combed.
My other dd has no live nits but I found 3 small brown dots - are these eggs?
I've got some shampoo that you leave in for 12 hours (derbac M ). I know everyone seems to avoid the shampoos but is there a good reason not to use it?

wow - you've got through 7 years with no nits!
I'd use the treatment (on both of them and you'll probably need to check yourself too). Thereafter use a teatree conditioner regularly.,
You shouldn't be embarrassed - everybody's child gets them.

mine haven't had nits yet but as far as I know the eggs are the white dots that don't come off easily.

Nothing to be horrified about though, besides the empathetic scratching I always seem to develop when anybody talks about lice or chickenpox Grin

It's not a sign of being filthy and all kids get it eventually I've been told. Just like chickenpox :)

As for the shampoos I think it's that the buggers develop a resistency against them. My friend in Israel sent me a nit comb that electricutes the blighters. She swears by it as both her girls have long hair and the climate in Israel being what it is lice love it there.
