Ended up phoning nhs direct as ds was just screaming, they said (or rater the gp that rang back did) he'd need anti-biotics but tomorrow will do.

Anyway he's just woken up screaming and there is nasty stuff coming out of it too (sorry if it's tmi, but I have no experiene of this at all. It also niffs. I feel bloody useless, I can't sto pit and he wont let me near him.

hi essbee. How are things?

Chocol8 · 13/04/2006 09:07

How is ds this morning Essbee?

Ds has had this recently - I took him to the walk in centre and they said ballinitis - which appears to be a general term for winky infections I think.

They prescribed antibiotics but he ended up not having to take them. Previously i have bathed it in warn salt water but this time I had to pour it over as he wouldn't let me near it. But dp demonstrated (urghhh!) the foreskin-going-back action after drawing numerous pictures and ds not understanding it.

Hope he's ok.

essbee · 13/04/2006 12:14

Well I finally got ds off to sleep about 4 so we're knackered! It's pink, swollen and it's hurting him but we have an appt with the gp at 3.45 as they're insisting they need to see him to get the anti-biotics. He's a poor boy.

OP posts:
cod · 13/04/2006 17:28

and?

essbee · 13/04/2006 18:45

It's balanitis, it's really swollen and red. How long did it take for the antibiotics to kick in? he's got something like 250mg amoxiclav?? (it's in the fridge and I can't be arsed to move right now!

OP posts:
essbee · 13/04/2006 18:47

Oh and chocol8, apparentely balanitis is the inflammation of the top bit of the man thing wich has lots of causes! In ds's case it's an infection due to the fact he can't pull his foreskin properly back yet, well so the gp suspects.

essbee · 13/04/2006 19:18
