I am not sure but I think I have ulcers on the back of my throat - I can see a white patch on one side. Does anyone know of anything that might help? My throat is very painful and I can't sleep with it I can only take paracetamol(sp) as I am b/f . I find they don't do anything ,
Trying to get a drs appt on monday will be difficult and I suspect that there isn't much they can give me. Dh is at a funeral and I have a screaming 6mnth old ds and a bored 5yr old. I am feeling very sory for myself. Any self help remedies welcome.

It sounds like it could be ulcers. Another possibility is thrush which my ds has at the moment. He had to have antibiotics a couple of weeks ago and they have destroyed a lot of his natural flora, resulting in an attack of thrush. This makes it painful for him to eat anything hard, vinegary, sour or salty. The doctor has prescribed nystatin drops and I am feeding him lots of live yogurt and yakult to rebuilt his probiotics.

I used to get throat ulcers quite often. They are very painful but, like mouth ulcers, only time seems to help. Gargling with aspirin helped a bit but I'm not sure if that's ok when bfing. The other option is teatree lozenges or numbing throat lozenges. Hope you feel better soon.

I've had these some time ago. At the time, my ds was teething and I used some Anbesol (which is also great for teething by the way). It's like a clear liquid which you just dab on with your finger, assuming you can reach all the way to the back of your throat! I managed so you should be ok. Best of luck because I know I sore it can be.

You poor thing. I had a throat infection before Christmas and felt miserable. Can you gargle with soluble paracetamol as this relieves the pain a bit quicker. Also can you take a strong throat lozenge like Merocaine whilst b/feeding - pharamacist would advise. They may also be able to offer you a throat spray with local anaesthetic effect. However you may well need to see a dr for a prescription.

Hope you feel better soon,
