broken tooth

I had a loose crown (5th tooth from the front) which the dentist was going to firm up on my next visit. It's come out this morning and looks like it's taken a bit of tooth with it. It appears broken right up to the gum line.
does anyone know what my options are? I'd be prepared to go private to save the tooth.

put it in milk and phone your dentist for advice.

I thought I had part of a filling come out only to find it was a piece of broken tooth, like yours, down to the gumline. My dentist did a root filling and could fill the side as well. It was successful and all pain/nagging twinges stopped. The whole thing cost me about £350 if I remember rightly - three trips, as it was infected needed temporary dressing and follow up treatment so yours could be cheaper. On the NHS he said he could pull it out for free or go private with him and pay.
Good Luck - go see a dentist as only they can really advise you.

DH is having exactly the same thing fixed today - costing us £600 - tooth broken at gum line, root filling and white crown. Obviously not NHS!

The tooth is already root filled so don't know if that will affect my options. I'm prepared to pay to save the tooth as it might be cheaper than other long term options e.g. implant.
