eragon · 30/11/2012 14:59

It is different for everyone. But majority have night sweats and/ or day-time hot flushes. Some have difficulty in concentrating - foggy, muzzy brains, aches and pains, heavy legs, erratic periods, light ot heavy ones. Some have no symptoms like my sister, but she was on the Plll until 55.
I also had nightmares and attacks of agonizing pain all over in bed at night, which all disappeared on HRT.
My friend had no symptoms either, just had no more periods after her 41st birthday.

Have your periods stopped then? Do you have any symptoms at all?

eragon · 30/11/2012 19:05

thanks digerd, have nothing like that at all. it cant be pregnancy as i have a mirena coil . but that does need changing as its been in there over 5 years but I havent had the time to sort that out.

as for periods, they do happen, and if i miss one or two, I am normally a pmt person. I havent had one since september.

my mum has the tropical moments, and irratic periods, but have had nothing like that so far.

One of my son's friends is the result of a mire a coil failure Wink.

Seriously though, I am not menopausal as such yet, but those are symptoms I am having in late 40s

FarrowAndBollock · 30/11/2012 19:23

mirena

digerd · 30/11/2012 21:52

Farrow.

I was 48 when I got those symptoms, but no daytime hot flushes. Went on HRT at 49

MyNewVenture · 30/11/2012 22:42

Digerd - did it happen quite quickly after that then? Was it really bad - is that why you went on HRT? [bit scared now]

Do you think that means I am menopausal? (I would actually be quite pleased if I am as I am dreading it so much - I would rather get it out of the way before the children are teenagers).

digerd · 01/12/2012 10:57

With me, it did come on quickly, but is different for everyone. I was at the normal age, and due to my DH's advanced cancer diagnosisi, she put me on HRT very quickly

But you say you have none of the symptoms. How old are you?
My daughter became perimenopausal in her early 40s, and had FSH and Oestragen tests to confirm it.
My sister went on the mini pill in her 30s - 55, and had no symptoms of menopause at all.

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's cancer.

I am 47. I think it's probably slowly happening ... Light and frequent periods, sore boobs, weird mouth, struggling with lbs etc
