my dd1 does this in her sleep (shes 5) and my dd2 did this when teething i think she just liked the sound! i wouldnt worry too much as you cant really stop it my girls teeth are fine but maybe you could talk to your dentist if you are really concerned just for peace of mind?

DD2 (4yo) grinds her teeth and has damaged them so badly that the dentist thinks they may need to be removed before her adult ones are ready to come through! It will damage your DS teeth if he does it enough - DD2 has almost worn though the back of her top front set. My dentist (private) was of the opinion that there was no point worrying about it with the milk teeth, but that DD would need damage prevention when her adult teeth came though.

My DD1 ground her front milk teeth down to nothing as well - it meant she didn't lisp when they fell out because there was no difference Grin

Her second teeth are absolutely fine though and she is grown up now so don't worry too much yet.
