Coldsore sufferers - do you have unsettled nights before an outbreak?

ds2 has coldsores and we have noticed that two nights before the outbreak starts to become visible he has a couple of unsettled nights - although he doesn't/can't vocalise why he wakes up ( he doesn't say that he is in pain).

He is a good sleeper normally, so I don't think the wakings are a coincidence. When we mentioned this to the Dermatologist. She said that she had never heard of it before.

So my question is. If you suffer from coldsores, do you have unsettled nights before a breakout? If so, have you ever mentioned it to a Healthcare professional and what did they say?

I haven't noticed unsettled nights particularly, but I do feel generally groggy, which might lead to unsettled nights in a child I suppose.

On the other hand cold sores usually flare up when your defences are down, so the cold sore might be caused by tiredness due to the unsettled nights, rather than vice versa.

Thank you for replying Smile

ds can't yet quite correctly vocalise how he feels (he's four), so to hear others experiences helps.

When you feel groggy pre outbreak, is it the virus waking up again do you think?

Its a bit chicken and egg I think. I definitely get cold sores when I'm run down, but also feel run down when I have a cold sore.
