Just got over a bad dose of food poisoning, would you complain to the restaurant you got it from?

hell yes!

jellyjelly · 04/04/2006 16:33

How do you know it came from that restaurant as bugs can incubate for a couple of days.

thewasherwomen · 04/04/2006 16:35

went to docs, still on tablets!

I'd sue 'em.

jmum6 · 04/04/2006 16:37

Yes definitely. AND i'd want compensation but you'd have to be quick

thewasherwomen · 04/04/2006 16:38

tell Environmental Health - they may want a poo sample though, and you're too late for that as the antibiotics will have killed most of it by now.

beleive me, I was fine till I had this meal, within hours I was so ill, so the source was obvious to me!

Cntact environmental health then and they can investigate. what was it eat in or takeaway and do you still have any left, was anyone else ill in your party, did you eat anything the same?

What was it you had? Did the doc do a sample? what pills did he/she give you?

thewasherwomen · 04/04/2006 16:50

I think I will contact environmental health, I was the only one who had this meal.
Thanks

I have just gotten over very bad food poisoning, I ate under-cooked pork in a fancy restaurant in Portugal.

I was disgustingly ill for about a week (puked all the way home on the planeSad), doc thinks it was possibly ecoliShock but I have had to be tested for parasites too Shock. But you know, in my case, I have to take some of the blame as I knew I shouldn't have eaten it. Of course the chef shouldn't have served it undercooked either but I accept some of the blame.

I diddn't complain at the time as it was a fancy business dinner (stupid , I know) but also the fact is is that I ate oysters the previous night and there is a slim possibility that they were responsible as I know from experience that seafood poisoning can take a good 24 hours to come on.

Basically my point is, not only do I sympathise with you, but I do know that it is hard to prove where you got poisoned, even if you feel sure.

jellyjelly · 04/04/2006 16:59

Good luck they might investigate if you have had takeout keep it for them to run tests on.

SaintGeorge · 05/04/2006 11:05

Did you provide a sample to the GP for testing, or did he just diagnose food poisoning from your symptoms?

Without a solid diagnosis backed up with evidence and a Public Health investigation, you cannot sue. You can try writing to the restaurant and see how they react though.

crazydazy · 05/04/2006 11:27

Oh no Carmenere I am going to Portugal in May, won't be having pork. Was it good? Was the weather nice?

Sorry about the hijack.

foxinsocks · 05/04/2006 12:56

carmenere, what a terrible story! Was the airline happy for you to fly? You poor thing - I don't know how I would have managed a flight with constant puking.
