I will be watching this thread. I did hear about clean and clear blackhead stuff. I have used there other stuff and it really bugged my skin as mine is sensitive too. Bit cautious to try the other range.

Squeeze???

SPARKLER1 · 04/04/2006 08:26

ooooooooooooooh - I bought a blackhead remover, years ago, from the body shop. It was a metal instrument with a rounded end with tiny hole in the middle. Not quite sure why I bought it.
I was blitzing a spot on my nose with this horrendous too morning, very sleepily, and the tool slipped and scraped my eye. Oooh makes my toes curl every time I think about it.

kbaby · 04/04/2006 21:45

Theres not much you can do about them I think. They are just open pores which have bacteria in them which goes black from contact with the air. You cant close your pores so the best thing is to keep them clean, you can get peel off face masks which may help.
Im a sqeezer but find they always come back in the same place anyway.

mazzystar · 04/04/2006 21:49

i'm a bit of a squeezer.

but i think exfoliating helps, as its often the dead skin that blocks pores.

red37 · 04/04/2006 21:51

My beautician friend just loves sqeezing themGrin
and she does it for free

bossykate · 04/04/2006 21:54

go for a facial with extraction. then afterwards, use a really good exfoliation product (i recommend dermalogica daily microfoliant).

hth.

btw - you may well find that they are "open pores" rather than blackheads.

blech - can't believe i have posted on this topic! Wink

stitch · 04/04/2006 21:54

soften the skin using steam, then gently squeeze/.
kkeep skin as clean as possible.
always remove makeup.
have a facial every now and then

izzybiz · 04/04/2006 21:58

Apparantly you need to use a facial cleanser that contains salicylic acid.
Ive heard the beauty experts mention it a few times on tv!

fuzzywuzzy · 04/04/2006 22:00

invest in a lush face mask I think cosmetic warrior is pretty fab, or brazened honey....they really do work too.....

bossykate · 04/04/2006 22:01

yes, izzybiz, that's what i've heard too. the dermalogica daily microfoliant i mentioned below has it. no i don't work for dermalogica btw! Grin i ran out about 2 wks ago and have been using l'oreal refinish (?) since - my complexion is noticeably worse!

AllieBongo · 04/04/2006 22:02

cleanse and tone separately.. cleanse to open pores and clean out crap, tone to close pores so they don't get blocked further..

Feduptoday · 05/04/2006 12:43

cleanse is no problem but toner make me go very spotty

its biglips btw Grin

mazzystar · 05/04/2006 18:28

why feduptoday? blackheads can;t be that bad!

biglips · 05/04/2006 18:30

Blandmum · 05/04/2006 18:31

The black in a black head isn't dirt or bacteria, it is a plug of a 'cheesy' substance....the colour given by the pigment in your skin, melanin.

The darker your skin, the darker your blackheads. Albinos, whi have no pigment in their skins, have white blackheads!

I'm a squeezer myself! Grin
