Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for endometriosis. Does anyone have any experience of taking this at all?

Last week I had a laparoscopy and it was discovered I had fairly significant endometriosis. This was removed during the procedure and the next day I was started on Provera (3x10mg a day for 30 days)

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of being on this at all, who would be willing to share their experiences at all?

The list of side effects are pretty worrying and I have had issues previously being on various contraceptive pills (hormones seem to make me a bit bonkers!) Hopefully the side effects will be minimal and 90 days isn't really that long in the grand scheme of things.

Before the end of the course I have to go back to the consultant to discuss medication/plans going forward although I am not quite sure what the options will be yet.

Final bump.

Been on it a week now and so far seems ok, although I have cried 3 times not sure if this is the tablets!?

Hi I was on provera for a month, then had triptorelin (monthly injections for 9 months)
Made me have hot flushes, tiredness and achyness but I was also really hormonal.

I found the provera a lot better than the triptorelin as they made me a horrible person to be around as I was either crying or sweating.

Much better then having to suffer the pain of endometriosis though.

I hope you are now off all your hormones and feeling better.

I've now been taking them for almost 2 weeks and the only symptom I think I have really is breast tenderness/pain although I suffer from that around the time my period is due normally, so I'm sure it is hormone related.

I've had no more irrational crying episodes! So hoping everything is starting to now calm down...only 11 more weeks to go!
