Does anyone else get complaints about the length of their vagina?

Only in jest of course. My first ever smear test the nurse was mumbling about "You tall girls, I've only got little fingers" (I'm 5'9") I've had them have to get the metal speculum out, not be able to find my cervix, today I got "Oh I can just about see it" it's quite funny watching their faces! Not so funny when it's a VE from someone with short fingers - that hurts! I'm the only person I know who's never cut the stem on my mooncup.

Please tell me I'm not a total freak and there are other "tall girls" out there

I have an inverted one so it's just bent! Not long.

steppemum, I have an irritable uterus and always deliver premature so I am in hospital a lot making sure those are just BH and not labour. I always seem to get the shortest doctors and midwives around! I had a fibronectin test done today which have to be done without lubrication, those are the worst because they have to have a good dig around to find the cervix!

Part of the reason for today's visit is I've been put on a drugs trial and I have to put a tablet with no applicator under my cervix each night... my what? Where do you find one of those? Even I don't have long enough fingers!

Yes, I ended up asking to see the hands/fingers of people trying to get to my cervix. After 3 days of labour, you really don't need everyone you meet up there. And yes, it hurts. And they get annoyed with YOU, as if you are being difficult! Surely if you tell them you are 'long' and they don't listen and delve in anyway, it should be YOU angry with THEM?

I am not tall. I am 5'4", when I stand up straight and try.

But they always have trouble reaching my cervix....perhaps its the rebel in me....

I do have quite long fingers though - wonder if there's a correlation?!

There was another thread in which the op could touch her cervix, and I and another women congratulated her as we can't. I asked how long her longest finger is as mine is 3", and she replied, 2.5" , she assumed she had an unusually low Cervix. Then another post said she has always been able to touch her Cervix. I did wonder if taller women had longer viginas and now know that they do.

I can touch my own cervix but then I do have long fingers (also five nine). I find smears and VE s during labour agonising - in fact they were the worst part.

Thank god. I'm not the only one with a vagina resembling Route 66 then! Ever since I was 18 I've been told by myriad health professionals about my "exceptionally long vagina" (and usually in a tone that implies that's my fault .

I'm not hugely tall (5'7") but most of that height is made up of torso (my legs are freakishly short in comparison). This means when buying dresses/tops etc I have to shop in specialist shops for tall women. And buying a swimsuit? Ha, forget it!
So I deffo think that the longer the torso, the longer the vagina.

Interestingly, DH's ex-partner also apparently had a freakishly long vagina. He must have a thing for those of us with a looooooong love tunnel.

i keep my cervix in my sock so that bypasses the problem usually.

Not long, but at my last smear the nurse couldn't find my cervix, she kept going 'where is it...' As if I'd know. Apparently it was facing the wrong way.

confuddled - I can only just reach to feel he strings of my coil (sorry TMI?? Although, given what we are talking about I think we may have already crossed that line/ Not sure how you are supposed to get a tablet up there

fuzzy - as well as having a long vagina, my cervix also points backwards (retroverted) too, like yours. Whenever they're fishing about for it it takes ages and I too get the annoying questions such as: "where is it?". How the fuck should I know when I don't even know where my wee-hole is?!

I had a Mirena for 5 years and in that whole time I could never reach the wires to check it was still there. I just took it on trust that it was (and because I'd not seen it fall out).

The combination of looooong fanjo and verrrrrrry stumpy fingers makes getting a tampon in securely a very fraught process.

It took the midwife ages to find mine when I was 8cm dilated...

The cervix actually moves around, depending where you are in your menstrual cycle, so mine tends to go from being totally out of reach to not too bad - you just have to learn when the best time is to get a smear test. Apparently, also, my cervix is sometimes retroverted and sometimes not, depending on how smug the smear taker is feeling about how quickly they found it . I've had it relatively painless and quick (more often these days now I refuse to let anyone near me who hasn't been trained to check where someone's cervix is prior to inserting a speculum) to absolute agony. On several occasions I've spent 20 minutes or more being asked to cough, to stick my hands under my bottom, to lie on my side, to wait while they find a longer speculum... all the while, they are busy banging the speculum up and down inside me and I can FEEL they are hitting m cervix, even if they can't see it, because it feels firmer than the rest of my vagina...

As for finding your own cervix, have you tried bearing down when you put your fingers inside, because that normally brings the cervix a bit lower (particularly if you've already had a baby!).

When I was diagnosed with abnormal cells, I remember being examined at the hospital and the nurse/Dr, actually could see my cervix, which now I find really strange , as think it would be impossible for me to see it . I think I may have had a long one for my height 5'2. Before things began to prolapse -< resigned sigh>

ATourchOfInsanity, I think I may start asking/ warning people! I can never understand how all the midwives seem to be quite short And yes, I love how it's my fault! Not always, they usually make a joke (in a nice way) but some do seem to get annoyed with me.

Elibean, ooh a rebel! I think it's natural variations, you can be short with a long body, tall but all legs... Being tall I guess it's more common but you're welcome to join the club

digerd, most women can touch their's, obviously if you're naturally long it might not be so easy but it can also vary depending on your cycle - I bet it's no surprise that I don't chart!

fuzzywuzzy, you mustn't hide it before you go to have smear, it's rather unfair on the poor nurse!

steppemum, on a thread about long vaginas, I don't think there's such a thing as TMI!

I've been trying to think of ways to make a make-shift applicator today... I'm not sure about using a pencil to push it up, considered a straw, the husband is no use he refused to help! Shame I don't still use tampons or I could fashion one from the applicator, cover the hole on the plunger with medical tape and drop the tablet inside... I can't buy a box just for the applicator!
