ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:10

its me again moaning about those verrucas

after the painful acid treatment which left me practically disabled...(no exaggeration - i had to come out of uniform and then the funny walking put my back out....) but .they are still there Sad
bad as ever. (all 30 of them)
massive.
and wont budge.

the podiatrist called me the other day to ask how they were....i should have just handed the phone to chief verruca and he could have answered for himself....

now they want to do "needling" - apparently they inject a local into the foot and dig about with a big needle to try and promote the bodys immune response....

it costs over £120.....

verdicts please. my feet have been taken over. (i wont link to the gore again but its bad....)

Sad (in the absence of a leper emoticon.)

I wouldn't pay personally because I think that's what the NHS is there for.

I don't however have any other advice. Sorry

I remember your images before - can't believe you're still struggling

LivesInJeans · 06/11/2012 22:22

Guessing you've seen this thread here

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:32

hadnt but without blowing my own trumpet.....mine beat that....are you ready?

dont look if squeamish!

now its not that bad anymore as the acid treatment stopped when my back went....i couldnt walk!

but its still the same size. the gore has gone.

QOD · 06/11/2012 22:35

Amputation Vic. it's the only way.

Banana skin?

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:38

did your treatement work qod?

i ended up having a week of sick with mine but because i couldnt walk i ended up putting my back out - ended up in A & E on diazepam!

OP posts:
SoldierKatnissEverdeen · 06/11/2012 22:39

Oh my god! Why oh why, did I ignore the warning not to look if squeamish?

Sympathies. I once had loads of verrucas on one foot that the gp wouldn't treat. Eventually when I could count 57 decent size ones let alone the little ones, he referred me to a dermatologist. By the time the appointment came through they had disappeared all of their own accord. I had had them about 18mths at that stage.

They never looked like that though. When did you have it treated? Maybe it just needs to heal after being interfered with? How long have you had them?

Gimblinginthewabe · 06/11/2012 22:39

I had two sessions of needling and it didn't work, but I take steroids so am immunosuppressed so it didn't trigger an immune response.

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:41

i have had mine for 5 years. i have no idea why they wont frigging go!

OP posts:
mrscumberbatch · 06/11/2012 22:42

ARGH! I never knew a verruca could do that!!!!

I was going to recommend a pumice stone facepalm

Not being funny, but I don't think that you should have to pay for this treatment. Can your GP not get you a referral for surgery or something?

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:51

tisnt good is it.....and its still there. not as gooey but same size....plus all hte others - pod tried to just treat hte daddy verruca in the hope it would stimulate my immune system to get shut of the others....

it didnt work.

so now he is on about needling.....im wondering if its worth the ££££ and the pain!

OP posts:
LivesInJeans · 06/11/2012 22:53

OMG I'm off to bed with that nightmare image in my head

StickEmWithThePointyEnd · 06/11/2012 22:54

Is there a reason why your auto immune response needs to be "triggered"? Shouldn't it work on it's own? I'm only asking because I remember seeing a little girl on embarrasing bodies with horrific verrucas and it turned out she had an auto immune problem.

Viviennemary · 06/11/2012 22:56

Apparently the inside of a banana skin is meant to cure them. There's lots of information about it on line. Not sure if it works though.

SoldierKatnissEverdeen · 06/11/2012 22:56

5 years? ! Oh.
I agree with MrsC. Surely the gp/nhs should be funding the needling given the state of it. How on earth do you manage to live life with that?
On a lighter note, have you considered naming it? I know there is some theory that people name some things invading their body and it helps them cope with it.
we could have a mn poll and everyfink

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:57

well.....nothing that i know about. i had blood tests in April....all normal. so ive no idea why the fuckers horrible things wont go....

5 years is long enough.

im sorry to anyone suffering trauma from looking at the pic.....its not that bad anymore - that was the acid treatment at its worst - i had to give that up when it literally put me on my back for a week!
so the gore healed up but the verruca is still that size and wont sodding shift.....
and ive got all the others to contend with.
they just refuse to go.

OP posts:
LivesInJeans · 06/11/2012 22:57

Auto immune is different to immune StickEm

Auto immune reaction is when your body attacks itself (not good)
Immune reaction responds to infections (good)

The immune system needs triggering to attack the virus that causes the verruca.

I agree that Vicar is likely to be low in immunity right now, to be struggling so much

SoldierKatnissEverdeen · 06/11/2012 22:58

Tbf I would definitely try the banana just in case it does work. What have you got to lose? And you could then ask the podiatrist to refer work to you for your miracle cure!

KatyMac · 06/11/2012 22:59

If you pay & it doesn't go away do you get your money back?

If so - go for it

StickEmWithThePointyEnd · 06/11/2012 22:59

Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up (see what I did there Wink sorry, couldn't resist)

I hope it all gets sorted for you soon Vicar!

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 22:59

soldiers im open to offers on the naming thing.....should i start my own verruca naming thread?

"hi, im vic, and this is

am open to suggestions!....

then he could speak to the podiatrist himself....ill just hand him the phone! hes big enough!

OP posts:
mrscumberbatch · 06/11/2012 23:00

Somebody call Dr House!

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 23:01

ive tried banana skin
bazuka
gels and lotions and potions
gaffa tape
tea tree oil

ive tried everything
including the drastic 60 % acid paste as treated by the pod.....

it didnt work! any of it!

OP posts:
uggmum · 06/11/2012 23:01

I was just thinking about your verrucas when I was looking at the other thread that was started today. I remember looking at your photo before and I felt truly sorry for you.

Can't your doctor refer you to the hospital. You really shouldn't have to pay for treatment. Do keep posting the pics though. There is a real lack of boil threads at the moment and your verrucas are keeping me going!

ThatVikRinA22 · 06/11/2012 23:02

katymac - no. it doesnt work like that - i paid £120 already on acid treatments that didnt work - he said there are no guarantees. verrucas are part of you so the body wont attack itself - until it realises that the verruca should not be there.

my body appears to be perfectly happy with them there. Sad

NotMostPeople · 06/11/2012 23:02

Vicar I'm too nervous to click the link and look but I'm a fellow sufferer. I can't remember how many I have I think it's thirty odd and they've been there for at least five years. I honestly don't know what to suggest as I've tried everything but am too scared to take my V's to the professionals ever since your last thread.

How do you trigger your immune system?
