GP found a polyp at my last smear. She can't tell if it's on my cervix or the vaginal wall. It wasn't there at my last smear. She's initiated a referral to a gynae specialist I've previously seen. I'm seeing her Nov 16.

I thought I read that polyps can be very hormonally active. I wonder if that's why my cycles have been going apeshit - shortening from 26, 27 days to 19 or less in less than a year.

Here's last night's "I'm so fed up I could scream" thread which I posted in the middle of the night so poor timing for replies.

Come talk to me about polyps. I know nothing!! How do they get rid of them? Where do they come from?
Seriously... I've had it with all these complications. :(

poor bugger.

I know nothing about polyps, sorry, but am arriving here with bucket loads of sympathy.

They remove polyps from the bowel wall if they find them during colonoscopy (simple prodecure to remove them then cauterise) so it might be the same, a minor day op.

have they sent you for an ultrasound. the best type to see is the internal transvaginal scan. then after scan an appointment with the gynae clinic the norm is for a colposcopy after scan were I work

and polyps are like little skin tags that we get on outside if body.. just we get them inside too..

I've had a uterine polyp and it also played a part in messing with my cycle. It is believed that mine was congenital i.e been there since birth. They're like small fibroids; they are more of a nuisance than anything else.

Mine was removed under GA (they found and dealt with it).
