severe anaemia and weight loss = bowel cancer???

FIL has been taken into hospital with severe anaemia (7) and weight loss (half a stone since dec approx)

he is having endoscope done as we speak

what could it be?

i keep thinking its bowel cancer

his stools are black

I hope he has had a blood test. Also does he take aspirin which can cause internal bleeding.

i think they have taken blood to check Hb and INR as he takes warfarin (he has a pacemaker)

If he takes warfarin he could have some kind of internal bleeding, but I am sure that they will be checking this one out. Good luck.

he had an ultrasound scan this morning and he has an enlarged spleen, so that would explain the low Hb
