I have pneumonia, any happy stories of quick recovery or advice?

Bit of a surprise really, very sudden flu symptoms on Friday, called NHS Direct cos I thought I'd pulled a muscle in my chest as breathing hurt so much.
They sent an ambulance
i'm home, but can barely move have no appetite and I'm so thirsty.
They were vague about recovery times,
any advice?

Did you have any antibiotics while in hospital, and are you taking them now? DH has been hospitalised with Pneumonia a couple of times, but once the ABs worked he recovered quite quickly.

I have antibiotics the size of horse pills, i'm also on codeine, iboprufen and paracetamol.
i did'nt realise it was so painful.
good to know your DH recovered quickly.

It's vile, it really is. He got some breathing exercises to get the gunk up too. When I saw him in hospital on the IV antibiotics it was hard to believe he would get better. But it's as if he turned a corner then got much better. I think the tablets he had were Augmentin. Huge!

yy i was admitted to hosiptal then sent home i had a new baby of about 6 weeks, hadnt even really noticed the cough tbh - was an utter afterthought, it was only when i collapsed I thought " coo I am ill!"

phew, i'm hoping i'm at the point where you think you'll never feel better. I think DH has reached that point too. He's had a crash course on the washing machine and is being a star, but the strain is already showing, kids have been really upset.

You poor thing pepper. I've had this, unfortunately it will take you some time to recover. You may feel breathless and exhausted for some time. Don't push your recovery. It took me 6 weeks to be anything like normal and a lot longer to feel back to normal. Do you have it in both lungs or one side?

Just one side thank goodness, they were surprised so much of my lung showed it up so quickly.

See if your husband can organise some extra help around the house.
My husband really struggled and ended up getting pneumonia too.
Do you work, have you been signed off?

Thanks for you responses. I guess I'm going to have to make a slightly longer plan than i thought. DH is working from home till wed at least, and i've managed to get a gp appt fro thurs which my mum can take me to. I work parttime and i think i'll ask for at least a two week sign off.
I think my boss was a bit suprised as I was in the office and fine on thurs . It's so sudden.
I haven't moved at all since i posted this morning
I'm just propped up withthe laptop and remote control.
