Dd1 Losing weight is this a problem?

My dd1 was ill last year , she is now being tested for allergies and has been found to be very allergic to something as yet unknown. So after 6 months of watching everything for causes of illness I am not sure if I am finding things now.

I have noticed in the past few weeks she is looking thinner, just put it down to a growth spurt and building life back up after being run down.I weighed her earlier this week and when I logged it she wasroughly 2 kg less than she was 2 months ago.Is this a problem or am I over reacting?

TIA

Read your message nikkie but don't have any answers tbh. How worrying for you though Sad. How old is your dd? What weight was she before and after? (2kg doesn't mean much except in relation to her total body weight). And have you measured her, has she grown much?

She is 6 was 21kg now 19kg she has grown ,will have to measure her but that would spread the weight ?

not really sure nikkie, just trying to get a bigger picture of what's going on.

Again, I know nothing about allergies, but if she is allergic to something like, say, wheat or gluten, it could possibly affect absorption of nutrients, which would then have an affect on her weight.

All I can suggest is that you post something in the Allergies section, say about whether undiagnosed (or unspecified) allergies can cause weight loss... an educated guess would be that they do. Also you might then get replies from other mumsnetters who deal on a day-to-day basis with allergies who can provide you with better support and understanding Smile

sorry, I'm really not much help, but I didn't like to see your thread sliding down active Convos without any responses!

Have been posting in allergies but not many responses and don't know if there is a connection.
