Delaying antibiotics.

My ds has a scratch on his face which has got infected. It started out as a small spot in the scratch but it has grown to about the size of a 5p piece since about tuesday. Today I took him tto the chemist and they said it was an infection and needed anti biotics but the doc can't see him untill tuesday. Will this do to much harm between now and then and is there anything I can do (besides Savlon) to help. It doesn't seem to itch or hurt but has grown very quickly.

Maybe clean with a weak tea tree solution I have found this to be really good with infection and may help you avoid the antibiotics altogether HTH

Is that something you could get from a chemist or more of a specialist shop? Thankyou.

do you have any cholramphenicol eye ointment? this can be applied to wounds and is a topical antibiotic.
Savlon and germiline are not particularly good imo.
Week tea tree solution or even an iodine dressing would help. you can get this from the chemist.
If the skin is red raised and sore to touch or you notice red lines 'traking wawy from it you need to get an urgent appt with your gp.

You can get tea tree in most chemists and ome heatl food type shops there is also a tea tree cream if you can get it.I had a mole removed on my leg and the stitches got infected I couldn't see the doctor for 3 days and so I bathed it in tea tree and it cleared up really fast and I didn't need to see doctors in the end Try Boots they definitely sell it

Thanks chapsmum, it is a bit red and started to turn a bit greeny around the edges which is why I took him to the chemist, but not red lines. Will keep a good eye on it though.
