I had a temporary filling put in a back tooth on Monday, when the first numbing injection went in I felt an electric shock sensation through my tongue and now 3 days later it feels sort of numb and sore like if I had taken a mouthful of hot coffee, anyone experienced this before?

Call the dentist. Sounds like they may have caught a nerve as they injected.

Yes this happened to me after my wisdom teeth were removed. I also lost taste. It did slowly recover. It was just like having a burnt tongue. I did see the dentist but there was not much to be done. It was due to irritation of the nerve.

I've had that too. It might be worth calling the dentist, and seeing what they say but hopefully it should just pass.

Thanks everyone, I shall give the dentist a call tomorrow.
