I don't come on here often but I'm so down. I've been having health anxiety issues for a while. Mum passed away last year and we've spent the last 9 months getting things sorted for dad to come and live with us. I have a DH and 2 young DS.
My obsession with cancer had sent me to numerous specialists and I'm now undergoing CBT and about to go on Sertraline. I've been having weird IBS symptons that gastro said was anxiety. No bloating but juts rectsl pressure and wind with constipation and the other (sorry). Flexi sig normal. I also have mild adenomyosis (periods are bloodbaths) and 5 weeks ago had an US to confirm.
The IBS getting so bad I took it upon myself to have a private MRI colonoscopy that happened this Friday just gone. Colon fine .......ovary not. Sent for rapid US at same diagnostic clinic and sonographer looks grim and tells me I have a suspicious mass on right ovary that's solid and not a fibroid or a cyst. She says I need to see a Gynae urgently and to prepare for the worst and then things can only get better. She also works at the marsden do I figure she knows what cancer looks like.
I'm distraught but manage to see Gynae who had looked at me 5 weeks ago. He looks and looks and says last US there was nothing. There was not - at least not visible. He finally tells me he thinks it's a dermoid cysts (90% sure) but wants a second opinion and a ca125 and HE 4 tests to be sure.
I get results back Tuesday and am hoping to see sonographer expert tomorrow. I'm so terrified.
What I don't understand is why it was not seen 5 weeks ago. I had a ca 125 test last August 2011 and US for adenomyosis and nothing picked up there either so is it something that's just grown?
The only thing that's making me feel better is that in the last 3 months health anxiety has led me to get a kidney and pelvic US that had been normal, full blood count normal, lung ct scan, normal and MRI of colon, normal. The radiologist said luver and all organs looked normal on MRI except this ovary. So if it is OVCA would it have shown up if it had mestasised?
I'm so down and shocked. I'm now in pain as well since being poked around there - do you think this is why it hurts where the mass is? For the last 2 weeks I've also had rib cage pain on that side.
