Chickenpox and pregnancy

DS (23m) has been invited to a bday pty this afternoon, but the birthday girl has chickenpox (spots only erupted yesterday). DS hasn't yet had it. I'm now 26w pg, but I've definitely had chickenpox. Is there any reason not to go?

chicken pox is only a worrying in early preg (first three months) and late preg as you can potentially pass it to the baby during birth, plus who wants to be itching whilst in labour. If you've already had it it is very very unlikely that you would catch it again, plus if the spots have crusted over she is no longer infectious, enjoy the cake!

Oh and if the spots have not crusted over, you have to ask yourself if you can cope with an itchy toddler in your fragile state!!!

Thanks Chapsmum. I was hoping that whether I could cope with DS having chickenpox would be my only concern. I think I'd rather that he caught it now, than when I've got him and a small baby to look after :)
