Best way to get xray for frail elderly person with possible fracture/break ?

My mum is in her 90's and apart from longstanding health problems generally not v.well at present .
I thought swelling to her right wrist was related to her gout and assumed a flair up due to recent increase in allapurinol.

But now ( after a week ) I'm worrying maybe it's a stress fracture or break caused by some minor unremarked knock .

Phoned GP on Friday and no appointments until Thursday ,am wondering about taking her to A&E tomorrow,Monday .

Has anyone any other advice ?

Am not medically qualified but did not want your post to go unanswered.

Can you take your mum to A&E just now? Can you ring NHS24 and ask their advice on what best to do and how your mum can be helped with the pain?

I hope someone comes along and can offer better advice and hope your mum is ok.

Do you have a local minor injuries unit? If so, give them a call and check if they have ex ray equipment. When my son hurt his knee badly, our gp advised us to go up to the local minor injuries department, as they have x ray, and hardly any queues, owing to them treating only small injuries, and no illnesses.

Oh thanks - minor injuries seems what we should be looking for .

She's not really complaining of pain ,says it only hurts when she moves it .
Have been doing cold compresses ( and paracetomol ) and swelling is less than it was .

But on the other hand if I took her to her local hospital they would have access to previous x rays ,but then would be A&E .....
