Has anyone tried any of the pelvic floor exercise products...?

Hi there,

I am thinking of purchasing a product to help me with my pelvic floor exercises. Has anyone bought something they would recommend?

Patttsy x

P.S. I am an old mumsnetter but forgot my original password etc, use to log on back in 2001:)

A friend of mine is a physio, who specialises in incontinence issues. She says the products aren't really worth it - only worthwhile if you feel you need more structure to your pelvic floor workout. But you can get exactly as good effects without any products.

NotQuiteCockney,

I was hoping for something that did not require any effort on my half apart from buying it and pluging in!

Don't they use any machines to help pelvic floor in some cases?

Oh well, back to the real world.:)

We should get MN to rig up something so that when you sit down and log on it reminds you to do your pelvic floor excercises whilst on here. That way (most of us Grin ) would be doing them at least once a day (if not a lot more) .

NotQuiteCockney · 17/03/2006 16:44

Sorry, Pattsy, you have to actually work the muscles yourself, whatever technique you use. I don't think they make those electric-stimulation thingies for the pelvic floor ... they're scary enough for abs (in theory, not used them!) can you imagine them in a pelvic floor version?

Surely this sort of thread works as an adequate reminder? At a recent pub outing with my pelvic-floor-physio friend, she pointed out that every one of us no doubt works our pelvic floor muscles, every time we have one of these conversations.

I'm doing mine now.

what about this: \link{http://www.tens.co.uk}
has anyone tried the pelvic floor one.

(I know, I should just do the exercise, but I soo want to have a machine to do it for me. I wanna switch on and lie back!)

I remember seeing something on Fern and Phil about the electric ones with a lady on the show who had been using one and was thrilled with the results. No idea which one tho but I guess they would all be pretty similar.

geekgrrl · 18/03/2006 18:41

I´ve got an electric one - can´t remember the name and I´m not at home at the moment so can´t check. It cost 55 quid or so and does work extremely well and has loads of different programmes etc, very variable strength, pulse rate, etc., etc. My main problem is that I am a generally slack and disorganised person and rarely remember to use it! Of course this is my fault and not the unit´s. :o

I´ll be back home tomorrow and will post the details then.

geekgrrl · 18/03/2006 18:42

the femetone is wildly overpriced btw, the one i have is very similar and much cheaper. good quality, too.

As I can't do a hyperlink, please copy and paste:

There is an electrical stimulator for the pelvic floor I thought might be worth getting, for £49.99 (with a form to fill out to exempt VAT)

I am undecided between this and the Pelvic Toner I have seen advertised £29.99.

patttsy's site is where I got mine from - the Neurotrac Pelvitone. It's very good.

I also got a Pelvic Toner once but found it completely useless, difficult to use, it seemed ineffective and to boot I kept pinching myself with it.

Patttsy · 20/03/2006 09:23

geekgrrl, pinching yourself OUCH!Shock

I think your reply has ruled out the Pelvic Toner then:)
