Diagnosis? I am feeling rotten :(

I think I have a trapped nerve in my shoulder. Lots of pain, stiff neck, can't fully turn my head. Sore elbow (same arm) and slightly tingly hand and fingers. Had it for 6 days, then it went away, but came back with a vengeance today :(

Today I also have sore knees, I have been vomiting for the last 2 hours and have griping pains in my stomach and the shits

I am alone at work all night and feeling very forlorn, and now I am worried that it could be some mega bug thing, and not just a stomach bug and a trapped nerve-I need diagnosis and tips to keep me at work (alive and not vomiting/worse on clients) until 06.30 as there is no-one to replace me...

Any kind hearted MNer/amateur doctor out there?

Swerve ball but could you be pregnant at all?

sagelynodding · 09/09/2012 23:27

I have a Mirena so I hope not!! Haven't been having a lot of sex either!
Will have to POAS tomorrow just in case.

Ok sorry but if it's A stomach bug you can't risk infecting people and need to find cover and go home.

Also unlikely as it is I take it you definitely don't think it's your heart causing the pain/tingly ness and general illness??

sagelynodding · 09/09/2012 23:34

Bea I had my heart properly checked with a cardiologist when pg with DS2, so about 2 years ago as they suspected a heart murmur, but all was absolutely fine. Not overweight, no cholesterol, i'm 29, so I don't think I would be a big risk really.

Luckily I won't be seeing many more clients-one more arrival to do, then just sit out the hours until morning...My boss isn't answering his phone anyway so I am stuck here bastard

:( how crap for you, home in bed would be best really.

Are your symptoms worsening or easing? And what job do you do nosey?!

BelaLug0si · 09/09/2012 23:39

Personally I would call either NHS direct or out of hours, as BeaWheesht mentions the shoulder pain could be external referred pain. This can be caused by heart or gallbladder problems.
I'm not a doctor - was reading up here if you're feeling at unwell then I agree try to call for cover and get checked out.

sagelynodding · 10/09/2012 00:00

Ivana I am a night receptionnist in a huuuge chain of hotels! (Not a good job by any means) Am abroad so I don't think NHS Direct could help me unfortunately :( My stomach seems to have calmed down a bit-when I arrived at work, I went to do my 'security round' and stopped in the staff toilets on each floor to throw up-tmi...

Thanks bela that made for interesting reading-I tried doing the tests and my whole shoulder sort of crunches when I move it. Low dull ache at the moment, very acute when going from a lying to sitting position.

Still no call back from boss, no one else to replace me as half of the staff seem to be on hols atm.

I will see the doctor tomorrow, even if it means I don't get to sleep-some of the stuff on the shoulder pain site is a bit unnerving!

Have you been on the symptom checker on nhs direct? You sound crazy ill to still be at work. What if you passed out? You should be able to get hold of someone, hopefully you get through the night uneventfully but it's worth mentioning to a manager the need for an emergency contact for these situations?

sagelynodding · 10/09/2012 00:20

I have never passed out in my life! And I feel a lot better after a cup of cool herbal tea, just the shoulder/neck/knees nagging at me.

MN will keep me awake. I'll have a go on the symptom checker.

Usually I have no trouble getting hold of someone, but this doesn't seem to be my lucky night!

deffo check the pregnancy thing, dizzyness, vomiting, diahe the shits and shoulder pain can all be signs of ectopic preg - and if you have a coil slightly higher risk of that,

Having said that it seems like shoulder thing seperate and ongoing issue?

Hopefully just a wee bug and you need to rest. But poas just incase! :)

Don't ya love dr google/mumsnet? You post with something minor and we have you at deaths door Wink

IvanaNap · 10/09/2012 00:26

I had 3

HeathRobinson · 10/09/2012 01:36

Frozen shoulder? At least for the shoulder...

sagelynodding · 11/09/2012 00:18

Well, Doc thinks there is nothing serious to worry about :)

He gave me 'interesting' tablets-paracetamol with opium and caffeine-I was a bit Hmm but they seem to be doing the trick.

He also said to see an osteopath, which was a surprise, as I assumed that he didn't approve of that sort of thing. I'll book in next week if I am not 100% better.

So Thanks for all the advice, I was feeling so fragile yesterday! :)
