Advise elevated blood pressure?

Following a trip to the doctors about his foot husband had his blood pressure taken (no not sure of the connection either???) and he's been advised his blood pressure is elevated. Understand the cut out salt aspect but wondered if there was anything we could add to his diet to help bring BP down?

stop smoking if you do.

reduce the amount of fat in the diet

But the smoking is key

I think they routinely check blood pressure. He should go back and get them to check it properly - usually over a number of visits, and then get them to advise on treatment and lifestyle changes.

Basically healthy eating, regular exercise, cut down on salt, and saturated fats.

Does he know what the figures were ?
