I seem to attract insects (I must taste really good) and have three MASSIVE bites on my calf plus a few smaller ones. The ones on my calf are raised, hard and each about the size of a £2 coin if not bigger.

Please share your top tips for bite creams/remedies/homemade concoctions that will ease the itching! They're driving me insane!

I feel your pain! I went to my gp recently as I suffer badly too, she said the following:-
Take a vitamin b supplement daily, apparently a study in nz showed this to be highly effective in some people actually deterring the blighted biting in the first place - worth a try!
Hydrocortisone cream to stop the itching (much more effective for me than antihistimine)
Avons skin so soft moisturising oil contains citronella and is allegedly what the sas use in the jungle to repel mossies.
Finally try all the different hayfever tablets - different ones suit different people - she prescribed me a really high strength one which has really helped!

Good luck x

Eurex cream works well for me or lavender oil. I will try the vitamin B thing in future. Any particular b e.g. B12?

£2 coin...mine have been known to swell up to the size of a teacup in diameter. Hideous!

I always cover my bites ( Im tasty too Grin) with micropore tape .It stops the itching a lot. Enough to ignore and not to scratch to encourage more histamine production. I have read that clear nail varnish is also effective.

Eurax cream from he chemist, it stops the itching so you don't scratch so it heals quicker. It is magic cream!
Also antihistamines help.

Tiger Balm. Brilliant stuff and you can now buy it in this country.

Add an antihistamime tablet and attack the bites from both inside and out!

Tiger balm is a good repellant too.

Don't get it in your eyes though!

I find aloe vera gel is magic stuff, takes the itch away straightaway and then calms it all down and you feel instant relief.

Some suggestions I will definitely try thank you! Will look at vitamin b and I'm about to head to the kitchen and rifle through DH's stuff for hay fever tablets! I'm sure he'll have some somewhere!

And I'll be at the chemist tomorrow for hydrocortisone/Eurax cream. And micropore tape!
