PMT and the Pill

I am on the pill and have noticed that I am really starting to suffer with PMT mood swings.
Is anyone else aware of when their mood swings or PMT starts and stops.
I think that when I have about 4 pills left in a packet I start to want to murder people.

Does this sound right? Are you supposed to get moody the week before you come on?

Are you on the combined Pill or Progestogen only Pill?

I used to be murderous all the time with the first brand of Pill I ever used. I changed brands eventually, and the problem went away. Have a word with your GP, there are stacks of brands that they can prescribe, and s/he will know which ones are likely not to cause the PMT-type symptoms.

I am reticent to change tbh as I always put on weight when changing brands.
DH and I aren't speaking and half of it is due to my PMT atm.

If it's causing so much trouble between you and dh, surely putting on a bit of weight is the lesser of the two evils? You can always shift the extra few pounds you might put on with a change of Pill; damage you do to your relationship may not be that easy to fix.

When I changed I was put onto one called Cilest - it's the only brand I've been on that hasn't made me put weight on (not that I can blame the Pill for my weight!), and it's also the one brand where I didn't feel murderous all the time. I don't know if it was just that it suited me, or if it's less likely to cause problems in most people who take it.

WWB - thank you for being the voice of reason in my fog of PMT. Smile
I will ask about Cilest then, is it combined?

I don't think I would be able to manage taking the progestrogen only pill at the same time every day.

I used to use one which contained different amounts of hormone at different times and it suited me fine - I had experienced PMT symptoms with microgynon.

Cilest is combined, yes.

My last post sounds really patronising reading it back - sorry, it wasn't meant to. It just seems a shame to put your relationship at risk for something that could turn out to be really easy to fix.
